HAVE YOUR SAY SO SUBBIES GET PAID

Following the release of a discussion paper regarding security of payment for subcontractors in the construction industry, written submissions are now being sought to ensure subcontractors bet paid on time, every time.

Member for Hinchinbrook Andrew Cripps advised that a discussion paper has been released on security of payment, for which feedback is sought from industry and the community on how best to tackle this issue for subcontractors.

“Security of payment seeks to ensure subcontractors in the construction industry’s contractual chain get paid for work performed or goods supplied,” Mr Cripps said.

“This group of tradesmen and women are often vulnerable to mistreatment, due to their placement on the payment chain,” he said.

Submissions on the Security of Payment discussion paper close on Thursday 31 March 2016 at 5pm.

Interested parties are encouraged to have their say at www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au, or in writing to GPO Box 2457, Brisbane, 4001.
