Hinchinbrook MP, Andrew Cripps, recently awarded Mr Kevin Gilliam, of Balgal Beach, a certificate in recognition of 40 years of voluntary service to Queensland as a Justice of the Peace (JP).
Mr Cripps presented Mr Gilliam with his certificate at his home in Balgal Beach, where he retired after a long career in the banking sector, which was the primary reason he became a JP.
“I’d like to thank Kevin for his long period of service to the Queensland public as a JP, which is a voluntary position that can require individuals to take on a lot of responsibility” said Mr Cripps.
“I was pleased to be able to present a certificate to Kevin in person to ensure he understands that his local community has appreciated the voluntary service that he has provided” he said.
Mr Cripps said anyone interested in becoming a Justice of the Peace or a Commissioner for Declaration should contact the Department of Justice on 1300 301 147, or email email@example.com.
