Member for Hinchinbrook Andrew Cripps MP, has put out a call to remind Telstra customers that 2G services will cease to operate from 1 December 2016.

“An announcement was made in 2014 that customers utilising 2G services would need to transition to 3G and 4G technologies by the end of 2016,” Mr Cripps said.

From 1 December 2016, Telstra customers will no longer be able to make or receive calls, send or receive SMS, or use data if they do not upgrade to 3G or 4G.

“Telstra is offering all consumer customers a free SIM card replacement, and some customers have also been offered free replacement mobile phone and SIM to help them upgrade their service,” Mr Cripps said.

Telstra continues to work with customers to make the switch as easy as possible, and are providing assistance through Telstra stores, or by phoning 1800 718 650 or 13 22 00.

“I would encourage anyone who is unsure of their service to contact Telstra for clarification and assistance were necessary,” Mr Cripps said.
