FUNDING APPROVED FOR GIRRINGUN ABORIGINAL ART CENTRE

 Member for Hinchinbrook, Andrew Cripps, has welcomed the announcement that Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre will receive funding through Arts Queensland’s Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP).

The Queensland Arts Showcase Program aims to support the creative development and public presentation of new works and to cultivate new and emerging talent in the arts.

“I would like to congratulate the Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre which will receive $60,000 to fund their proposed arts project, “Bag in Monaco”, Mr Cripps said.

The Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre is based in Cardwell and represents nine Traditional Owner Groups. Their artwork is based on their traditional ancient culture in a variety of forms including weaving, painting, pottery, textile art and making of traditional objects.

The QASP funds will be welcomed by their organisation.
