LNP Candidate for Kennedy, Noeline Ikin and Hinchinbrook MP, Andrew Cripps, have teamed up to lobby the Turnbull Government for funding for the Mission Beach Aquatic Facility.

Mrs Ikin and Mr Cripps both believe that the delivery of the Mission Beach Aquatic Facility project would be a great step forward for the local community after many years of planning.

“I spent some time at Mission Beach in October listening to the community and this is a project that was mentioned during a number of conversations with local residents” said Mrs Ikin.

“Cassowary Coast Regional Council has an application in to the Federal Government through the National Stronger Regions Fund for $3.49 million and I support this application” she said.

“Project applications are being considered by the Federal Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development at present and I’m pushing for this project at Mission Beach”.

Mr Cripps said the project, which included a Rainforest Billabong pool, a six lane 25 metre lap pool and an indoor hydrotherapy pool, would be a great facility for Mission Beach.

“I’ve spoken with the Deputy Prime Minister, Warren Truss and his office about the Mission Beach Aquatic Facility project, to underline my support for the application” said Mr Cripps.

“The cost of the project is about $7 million, so it would be fantastic for Council to secure half the funds from the Federal Government through the National Stronger Regions Fund” he said.

Mrs Ikin and Mr Cripps said they looked forward to working together on this and other projects in the federal electorate of Kennedy and the state electorate of Hinchinbrook in future.
